On August 31, 2022, Mary Peltola wins Alaska a special election and defeats Republican Sarah Palin to complete U.S. Representative Don Young’s term. She will serve the balance term left open by the sudden death of Representative Don Young (R) in March who represented Alaska in Congress for 49 years. After winning, She has become the first Alaska Native member to seat in Congress.
