Why Dwayne Johnson Rejected Vin Diesel’s Invite to Rejoin ‘Fast and Furious’

In November 2021, Vin Diesel through an Instagram post asked publicly Johnson to come in Fast and Furious 10.

Vin Diesel wrote in the post.

“My little brother Dwayne. The time has come,”

“The world awaits the finale of Fast & Furious 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes. but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo.”

Although Johnson decided he does not want to go back to Fast & Furious 10, Johnson said

“I was very surprised by Vin’s recent post. Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post and Paul Walker’s death.”

“My goal all along was to end my amazing journey with this incredible franchise with gratitude and grace. It’s awful that this public discourse has messed everything up. Regardless, I’m confident in the ‘Fast’ universe and its ability to consistently deliver for the audience. I truly wish my former co-stars and crew members the best of luck and success in the next chapter.”

Dwayne Johnson, who played Luke Hobbs in four installments of the Fast franchise as well as the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw with Jason Statham, in an interview with CNN, Dwayne Johnson said that he felt that Diesel’s post was manipulative and he didn’t like that the actor brought up his children and the late Paul Walker.

Johnson also said that he and Vin Diesel spoke in private and he expressed that he was not returning.

He also said that there was no chance I would return. I privately spoke with partners of Universal as well, and all of them understood the problem as they were very supportive

“I told Diesel directly that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return,”

Johnson has been part of the “Fast & Furious” franchise since 2011’s “Fast Five.”

“It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character,” Diesel said at the time.

Universal said that they will release the 10th chapter in its Fast & Furious movie franchise on May 19, 2023.
